My name is David George Braun and I want to collaborate. My passion is helping people enjoy lives enriched through technology and human connection. I have credentials and experience, which you can read about in the following paragraphs and pages, but I believe that more important than skills and laurels is who I am and why I’m passionate about my work. I built this site as a virtual preview; an interview before the interview, so you can get to know who I am a little better before we meet to discuss our plans for world domination.

A natural teacher, driven to problem-solve, I trust in philosophies based on patience, reason, and empathy. I feel a strong need to be a part of something worth doing, and it seems that the world is full of creative and meaningful projects. Thus, I’m looking to join a team of starry-eyed, forward-thinking people who need a helping hand in striving toward something awesome. In summary, I am interested greatly by the “We Economy” and am always searching for those mystical places where technology and art and community are co-mingled.
My degree in Computer Information Systems and A+/Newtork+ certifications only tell part of the story. It’s true that I’ve written some Java, and that I adore getting hands on with technology; installing parts, running cable, soldering wires, troubleshooting hardware, using tools, and tweaking software, but where I really excel is on that fine line between people and machines, where user meets interface and all the magic happens. I am a martial arts student & coach and once upon a time I majored in Communications Arts. Before that I was an NCAA athlete and helped to build a family business. I understand teamwork & systems and I’m fascinated by the many ways in which people interact with technology and each other.
Let’s build stuff! Let’s take things apart. Let’s analyze. Let’s play with nifty toys and prototypes. At heart I’m just a big kid, but by trade I’m a fixer, a maker, and a consultant. Deconstructing situations and objects to figure out how they work is second nature to me, and I absolutely love to show-and-tell. I love data, maps, music, and all sorts of wonderful contraptions. Working it out for myself and then teaching someone else is not only one of my best skills, but something I proudly enjoy. As a coach, I always feel emboldened when my students succeed.
To make it all official, I graduated with an Associates of Science in Computer Information Systems from Portland Community College in June of 2015. In the course of my studies there, I received several honors, worked on many interesting projects, and honed a wide range of skills. Add a couple of CompTIA certs to years of professional experience in various roles from call center to business development, and you have a veritably competent free agent who is ready to step in to any of a variety of roles. I look forward to making a difference right away.
